What to Check When Buying a Used Edgebander

Buy a used edgebander for the stations that still work, not for the badge. Check the beam for cracks, every motor for noise, glue pot for carbon, copy shoes and knives for wear, and whether pre-mill / corner rounding / PUR were ever installed. A cheap machine missing the station you need is more expensive than a new compact automatic.

Walk-around list

• Frame and beam: 1230–2850 kg on YongMao new-machine tables; a light, rattling used import may never have been industrial.
• Glue system: EVA pot vs nozzle vs PUR. A burnt pot is a real repair, not a clean-down.
• Stations present: glue, end-cut, rough/fine trim, scrape, buff, plus any extras in the listing photos.
• Feed: belts, encoder, advertised vs actual m/min. Do not trust a handwritten “23 m/min” without a test panel.
• Electrics: 380 V 3 phase is the published YongMao standard; a used 220 V conversion needs an electrician, not a hope.
• Knives and copy rollers: consumables. Budget a set the day it lands.

When used is the wrong buy

If you need PUR, 45° bevel or hinge boring, a used straight EVA five-station will not grow those units cheaply. Compare with new YM-365 or YM-468 before you chase a Holz-Her from a third owner.

Bring a panel and tape to the inspection and run glue. If the seller will not heat the pot, walk.
