Do I Need Pre-Milling and Corner Rounding on an Edgebander?

You need pre-milling when the saw leaves chips or an out-of-square edge that would print through the glue line. You need corner rounding (tracking corner trim) when the furniture drawing shows a radius on the vertical corners, not a sharp tape step. Small shops running cheap interiors can start without both; export kitchens usually cannot.
Pre-milling
The miller joints the panel edge immediately before glue. It is the fix for:
- Plywood and particle board exploded by a scoring-saw mistake
- Panels that sat and picked up a nick
- Tight “zero glue line” cosmetic work
YongMao places pre-mill on longer machines such as YM-468J and YM-468JD (7250 mm and 8000 mm published lengths). A 4 m YM-365 does not include it.
Corner rounding
Without a corner unit, the tape is trimmed square at the corner and someone hits it with a trimmer. With tracking corner trim (YM-468, YM-468J, YM-468Z, FM468JCD among others), the machine follows the radius.
Skip it only if your product is a cheap box that will be covered by a handle or never seen at eye height.
